Preserving our cities’ history.

Red Hill Camp

Red Hill Camp is colloquially known as ‘the last campsite of the Ngunnawal’. It’s a small patch of land located in the suburb of Red Hill in Canberra.

From 2015 - 17 a student-led research project was conducted on the area; a collaboration between the Australian National University and Canberra’s local Traditional Custodian groups.

I designed a visitors’ guide to Red Hill Camp for Action Heritage to highlight the work they had completed and what was uncovered at the dig.

The Old Weetangera Road Trail

The Old Weetangera Road Trail was one of the earliest roads in the Australian Capital Territory. I worked with Action Heritage to design markers that mapped out this old road trail.

The markers gave a snapshot of what the area looked like when the old road existed. They continue on the stories of Canberra’s inception.

“Well in my time, as a little girl, I came here with my grandparents who were doing domestic work for people around here, for the elite. We'd come with the horse and sulky from Yass. We’d camp here 'cause there's a creek running down there from the Grammar School. We'd take our horse Poppy down to the creek and she would have a drink and wander around.”
